Thoughts about the Books

This Series of Books to me is something really special. Sapkowski builds a great realistically feeling world where there is no good and evil, only different shades of grey. There is so much in these Books, so much social commentary without pointing fingers, the subtle kind of humor, the egoism of the characters, the philosophical concepts and there has never bin a cast of better main and secondary characters. Also some of the Prose is just beautyful. The Mantras and in-world Bookpages and leaflets add so much to his world. The Dialog is some of the best I have ever read.

I have seen so many “meh” reviews of these books even from reviewers I usually agree with. And I have found most of those reviews are from Americans and I believe it has something to do with the translation. I have read them in german and it is a great experience, so if you speak german read them in german. The language is way closer to the original polish then english.

Games

  • The Witcher III: The Wild Hunt is one of the best modern RPGs out there and probably well known to most
  • Also palyed some Witcher II and it was fun but its Age is very noticable
  • GOG is the place to pick them up rather than Steam (DRM free)

Netflix Series

Don’t even get me started. Its a disgrace. Could not watch more than 3 or 4 Episodes before giving it up. It is very unfaithful and the changes the Showrunners made seem to have no reason at all.
